Would this give me more fuel or just increase the volume in my rails?

To quote PPE their description says The ported fuel rail fitting was specifically designed for the 2001 through 2008 Duramax diesel engines and increases fuel flow volume from the fuel pump to fuel rail by replacing your vehicle's stock fuel rail fitting.

Am i understanding correctly that it would not send more furl to the engine but more to the rail to maintain pressure?

I would agree. It would get more fuel to the rails from the pump but it doesn't increase the output of the pump or anything in front of it.

By the description, this is just a "bigger hose" to get the fuel to the rail. No, this will not get more fuel into the engine cylinder.

The fuel that you get into the cylinder is controlled by your fueling tables. You are only going to get (up to) as much fuel as you have requested in the tables. (mm3's) If you want more fuel, you request more, and you will get more up until the point that the fuel rail looses pressure. Increasing fuel rail pressure will not get you more fuel into the cylinders, but you have to have/maintain adequate fuel rail pressure in order to get the mm3 of fuel delivered in the small amount of time. (based on injection timing and RPM)

Ok thats what i figured about it but i wasnt sure, just read it and it made me curious.

It is a good idea with over sized injectors. With stock injectors I don’t see a big advantage, but when you are flowing more fuel a better supply is always good. :thumb:

Just so that you all know a port rail fitting is nothing more than taking a drill and making the hole in the fitting larger. When you increase the hole size a few things happen. When the injectors fire there is a pressure wave that is created in the rail that cause fuel to travel out of the rail through the rail fitting so by opening the hole to large more travels out of the rail. So you need to make sure and keep the system in balance when your screwing around with opening holes up. On a LB7 it doesn't help any but on a LLY and newer since the fuel systems were routed different, working on the driverside fitting helps, just do not go too big.

WOW thanks for the info i didnt know that, I wasnt going to be doing anything more than installing an already ported piece but thanks again for the info.
