Who has the best deal on a true 4" down pipe and how much?

Is there a specific brand to stay away from?

Vendors chime in also Please.;)

I don't know of anything 4'' for a stock turbo.

What is the normal aftermarket then? 3.5"?

3" from Diamond Eye and PPE

Any thoughts on why so small? We're running 4 and sometimes 5" from there on back. Seems like they would be bigger.

I think the main reason is space.
with a little work, a bigger one will fit no problem.

4 inch ATS downpipe is a bear, requires BFH mod to clear firewall with a PPE pedestal. In retrospect, I'd gladly run a 3.5 inch pipe for the piece of mind and lack of annoyance.

That's just me though,

Nick

My ATS 4" downpipe looks like it was flattened with hammer (which I believe it was) to make it fit (makes me cringe and look away every time I glance at it). The firewall will be "massaged" with a BFH when the motor comes out for the swap to accomodate a true 4" downpipe.

Does anyone make a good stainless downpipe? I have thought about just replacing the section on my ATS down pipe that has had hammer engineering performed on it as well.

Why is that Nick?):h

I had to cut the bottom off of mine to get it up into place and then reweld it. I have several band clamps strategically placed to pull it off the firewall also, less it rubs at idle in gear.

In ATS's defense, it's not being used on K31 charger (S400 instead). My projects have a tendency to turn into 'custom' nightmares, and this downpipe was no exception. Anyone who's used one will tell you that it's a fat pig, a tight fit regardless of the turbo and pedestal combination. If you absolutely must have 'flow', then this is the pipe (or custom).

I'm going to try a PPE downpipe on the next install.

Just one guys opinion.

Sure, now I read this. Glad the motor will be out so we can massage the firewall in the right places.

My 4" ATS doesnt rub atoll and is a true oval. The older ones are squashed i believe. I even got the ATS passenger side dipstick between the firewall and the DP with no vibrations...of course i had to spend a little time getting it that way but no noise atoll.

Rick, i can get you a Diamondeye DP at cost for all the help you have given me.
