What would you buy?
What can one do that the other can't?

The Dashhawk does not do egt's if you have a 06+ do the insight. If older you might consider Quadzilla commander or the Scout which should be out soon.

I already have EGT and Boost gauges. Why insight if 06+?

They dont work with the older models, becuase the map sensor are different and it reads the voltage change for boost. And older models are set-up the same.

I have the dashhawk and also love it. i like to keep an eye on EVERYTHING and the box remembers up to 9 screens with up to 6 sensors on each screen.

I'm interested in things that one does and the other one can't. They both do similar things, so what are the things that makes them different. Why would you buy one over the other? If there is a third option that does the same things, let's throw that one in to the comparison also.

Not sure because I don't own both but it looks like you can't go wrong eitherway
I know the Scangauge will track your mileage it looks like the dashawk will do 0-60 1/4 mile if you care

I too am interested in this discussion. I am new to both of these items..the Scangauge and the Dashhawk....
Would either of these gauges replace the Autometer gauges such as the pyrometer or tranny temp gauges?
Does the edge also check these similar functions?
Would I need either of these monitors if I purchased the Autometer gauges?
Thanks

The scangauge doesn't do pyro temps. It basically is limited to what it can read from the truck's computer.
Quick rundown on the scangauge, perhaps someone with a dashhawk can do the same.
The Scangauge II will:
Read and clear codes
Give you instant readout (basically digital gauges) on a bunch of different parameters. You can also program vehicle specific items but I haven't done this yet. Standard items include load, coolant temp, intake temp, rpm, instant fuel mileage, speed, range, gallons used, gallons left, cost per mile, + some others.
Trip data-This is my favorite part- The scangauge keeps track of trip data for Current trip, Tank, today, and yesterday. The only intervention here is you tell the scangauge when you fill up. It tracks 11 items for each of the 4 trip funtions including max coolant temp, cost, average fuel mileage, average mph, max mph, + plus more I can't remember offhand.

Does anyone have the data on dashhawk or another like device?

The dashhawk will read a lot of what a tech 2 will but not all. As said before it has 9 different screens that can have up to 6 different readings on each screen. You can watch a lot of sh*t. Stuff for the engine and the trans. TC slip, input/output speed, temp, engine temp, actual and desired fuel rail pressure, trans temp, list goes on and on. On newer trucks boost, egt's (if you get the probe and install it), LMM can see if in regen or not, factory egt sensors, dpf soot, read and clear codes. There is alot but I dont think it has the trip stuff that OCDUNE said the other had. Also the edge insight does all the same stuff as the dashhawk. I think the insight is about $10 cheaper. Both were/are made buy msd. Dashhawk has more screens than the insight but you can go to msd's site and download the dashhawk programming in to the insight and have the same thing. Hope that helps a little.

I am a little bit biased and will not have anything in or on my truck that has the edge name on it. $10 more was no big deal to me. Until that name changes my mind.

Why is that???
Is there a problem with the name "Edge"...I am new to these monitors or what ever you call 'em...
I read up on the Edge Insight...also the Scangauge ll and the other one..the dashhawk.

I like my scangauge, always use the trip computer features. Have achieved great fuel economy since I installed it. 23.4mpg on a trip last summer. Adds accuracy to the dash gauges and gives you a few more to check too.

What is the cost on each of the gauges? That might help me decide which to get.
The ScangaugeII costs about $160. Have had mine for a year and love it. Have added code for Boost, and Horsepower, besides a few other xgauges. I move the gauge between 2 vehicles seasonally. Bought the extra cable so its a snap to swap. One vehicle is gas and the other is an 05 Duramax.
