Will 30 lbs of boost hurt my stock LBZ motor? I am running a smoke tune I got off of DP. It runs great I smoked a Ta, While I was at wot I looked at my boost gauge and it was at 30. I dont wont to hurt anything in the motor or tranny. I will be looking at the 7.1 conversion within the next year!!

Thanks Kyle

I dont think 30 lbs of boost will hurt anything in the motor but you might want to keep an eye on your stock turbo if your running a stocker. I dont think 30 should be a big worry but just in case.

Whos smoke tune are you running? Twisters? Like the smoke?
30psi isnt even where the turbo becomes inefficient. i run 36psi on a race tune without problems.

Yes it is twisters tune!!! I do like the smoke, I am in need of the trans go-jr to get the full effect of the smoke part. It smokes pretty good 1-4 gears, have the tranny locked in 4th. I still havent hit WOT with it until I upgrade the Tranny.

I dont know about anyone else but I have ran 31 to 33 psi for atleast 75K miles. I have over 104K on the truck now. from what I have read anything over that is putting the turbo out of its map range and you are just making higher egts and not seeing anymore power from the turbo just heat. I have had mine hit 45 psi... once. that tune was then removed lol. as for getting the boost pressure down. perhaps you need to lower vane position and commanded boost levels with efi live or some tool like that.

its a product from ppe that lets you build up your boost when towing with a dial and a toggle to turn it off so it only work when your over 18lbs of boost.

Ohh okay, gotcha. I was confused with the terminology. I'll have to hook my old one up and see if I can get 45 too.

i dont think you will get over 45 but i think you will like it if your over 35lbs. i have my ppe setting 4.

what boost levels have any of the guys on here with race evolution hit

OTHRGRL
11-23-2010, 07:50 AM
Most guys with the race evolution are going to be using it for gauges as well, which will mean they are reading boost off the stock sensor - which is normally off and/or limited to a certain amount.
