Just wanted to show off what I think is a beneficial mod. I used the LBZ inlet, but I took it a step farther. I built a 4" od tube to the air box.

I had previously been using a 3 1/2" True Flow tube. I saw no reason not to run 4" all the way over. That is the size that is on the LLY box. ;)

I used a plumbing style coupler on the mouthpiece because I feel it has a little more give and was readily available. I used a traditional style 4" coupler on the air box that I bought from the local O'rielly for approx $10.

All in all this seems to have really waken up my truck. :thumb: I've tried to schedule some dyno time but they ( TIM!! ):h ) hasn't got back to me yet. I was gonna do a back to back with the oem stuff.:)

Sorry about the mess under the hood. I plan a major cleanup tomorrow.

Nice, that little plumbing connector is a "no hub", cheap huh and it works great.

I like the welding joints, purdy enough to leave untouched. You do that?

I wanna do something like that, but i need to move some stuff around. I attached a picture, I am on the other side though.

I hope to use atleast 4" tubing into the airbox.

Looks good, but under the hood needs some degreaser with some pressure washing :bling:
I used the lbz mouthpiece with the the stage 1 airaid noticed a pretty good difference money well spent.

Yeah, it's my welding. I don't like grinding them. I built NHRA certified chassis for years and grinding welds was against the rules. I try to make them pirty enough not to grind, but sometimes....):h

Looks like some nice work in your pic. :thumb:

I've come to the conclusion that the entire system needs to be balanced / matched and a bigger intake tract is part of the equation.

Is this "RDL intake" going to be commercially available? Not everyone has a welder you know...

Hmmm. Never thought about it.):h

My thoughts were that I could put a small accordion in the center if it showed it needed it. So far I see no reason too though.

BTW, I cleaned it today TOO! :)

Installed Rick's LLY intake mod on a buddy's stock LLY today. Easy install, looks pretty good. Other than having to wrestle with that damn LBZ mouth piece the install was easy. Guy is a retired engineer, tows a 34' 5th wheel, has a Predator tuner on the 65 hp tune and an egt gauge. Keeps good records of truck performance and will report back on performance. He did have a AFE filter in a stock LLY box. Couple of pics.

Buddy called me a little after 6 this morning to tell me that before the mod install his truck would smoke like a bugger when he got on it with a 65hp tune from his Predator. Now no smoke, truck seems to cruise 200 degrees cooler and has more pep. He's happy.:thumb:

I have been interested in the LBZ mp upgrade and finally decided to look at taking care of this, especially with all the good info that others have posted up. After using multiple searches trying to get parts #s and finally being successful I looked up both gmpartsdirect and the gmpartscheap and found a lot higher price than expected, plus the fact that it was out of stock. Well, I tried again just a few minutes ago and in gmdirect and found a new number if you put the old # in your cart. The new number is 98011738 and there are two pics of whats being supplied and a price of $75.37. Not sure if this is what the LBZ mp looks like by itself, but others who have worked with this would probably know.

If it is correct, my suggestion would be a sticky showing this mod along with part numbers and places to obtain it.

Just my .02
Tom
