Buying modded S300 turbo, based on a bd supermax, or 40 over sticks.

I talked to nick today and he said that if i go with the 40 overs, i can lower my timing a little bit and also pulse width. If i go with the s300, i am limited to a t3 pedistal which is somewhat restrictive, and i'll have a little bit higher cylinder pressures. I could lower the commanded boost for the new sticks because i have water methanol, and there is now more of an exhaust flow to the turbine. i am currently seeing 41-42psi on my stocker, i would like to dial that down to about 34-36psi with water meth on.

Give me your thoughts guys.

Turbo

but I don't have to replace the motor when you pistons blow. I don't know enough about the injectors will they help the motor live longer.

I know on my Lb7 I wouldn't do it unless I had to replace them anyways and gm wont give me them free anymore then I would get upgraded injectors

40% over was my suggestion Brian, not the 40hp...

I hate the way injectors are 'branded', makes it difficult to know what you're getting.

thats what i was thinking kevin, but after i talked to nick he said a lbz longblock with oem rods and 75 horse sticks that made over 700 horse with lower timing that im running on my race tune. Lower timing makes pistons live longer.

i just realized that. ):h

Not necessarily pistons, although lower EGT's will help, but certainly the rods will be happier.

So, I was thinking, I have a set of 40% over LMM injectors.....

You wanna try to run LMM nozzles....?

LMM have 6 holes FWIW.

I would have your nozzles extrude honed. If you are wanting big power I would also not hesitate to go 60% over with them. It is a big job doing injectors so over build for what you are wanting right now. Nick can dial it down with 60% over nozzles and it will still start, idle, and drive around like stock (that is until you put your foot down).

I would choose the turbo over injectors but I would choose a different turbo.

If you decide to do injectors, find a company that tests the entire injector at a high pressure.

why a different turbo neversatisfied? I also noticed that his turbo pics were the same as josh's..

I think you can get a charger that is a little bigger and T4, and still have the same or better charachteristics than the S300.
What are your future plans? I think you will quickly out grow the S300

Im not planning on building my motor anytime soon, need at least 2 more years out of it. im going to be slowing down racing.

I keep hearing low timing saves pistons.

I think that is not true to an extent.

There are other things like fuel and boost that work with timing.

Timing doesn't kill pistons. A tune is a mob, if other things are not rolling with the timing, your creating a scary mob, and thats whats gonna kill that motor. However timing may be the bad boy of the mob ):h

I do agree bigger sticks can allow for lower timing and help out, but that doesnt necessarily mean low timing save motors...

Says the man who just started a thread on whether he should get bigger injectors or a bigger turbo. :lol2:

Hey Brian, what happened to "As soon as I get into the 12's, I'm gonna quit. That's all I want" :lying::lol: :D

I say go with the turbo, its a good price, you might outgrow it but so what. Buy a bigger one when you are ready.

But peer pressure is a B**ch):h

I would leave it alone if you want it to last and quit taking it to the track every weekend. My truck has only been to the track 4 times since I did the tranny almost a year and a half ago
