Since I'm pretty much still new to AZ I'm trying to learn about the emission standards. I moved out from Mass in July 07. I still have a cat on mine but want to get rid of it and do a 5" turbo back pipe later on in the summer. Have any of you gotten stopped for not having a cat on it? I heard from my buddy who recently got laid off at work saying that they changed the emissions this year and will have smog testings as well checking for cats when it comes to inspections. Is this true? I dont want to get a 10k fine if a cop suspect that I have no cat under it.

I wouldn't worry about getting pulled over and them checking worst that would happen is you would get a fix it ticket

but when you take it in for emissions it will need to be there I think you have 5 years in AZ before they start doing emissions testing

My truck is registered in Yavapai county so I don't ever have to have it tested

You don't have to go through emmissions for the first 5 years. Your truck being an '06 would mean, you don't have to do emmissions until 2011. HOWEVER, if you haven't switched your plates to Az. you might have to go through "inspection" to get the plates switched. I would have the cat in place for inspection. Once that's done, you should be good to go until 2011.

Not worth the trouble IMO to take off the kitty.More hassles from what I hear. I bought my DMAX because it never had a kitty in the first place):h :thumb:

I gutted a 6.0 cat, and split it in half so i can tack it on for emissions ):h

thanks guys, im trying to decide whether is it worth gutting it or just get a magnaflow free flow cat, cuz i heard rumors about the federal requires every diesel to have emissions by 2010.

I wouldnt buy the magnaflow cat, its not worth it IMO. Id rather remove my front pipe and put my stock cat back in than spend 500+ bucks for a "high flow" cat.. To what spec does High flow compare to?

that's probably true. My cat back exhaust is welded to the cat. whoever worked on it is an idiot for chopping off the flange and connecting the pipes and welding it together. so im trying to look for a new exhaust later in the future but still unsure which is better, 4 inch duals or 5 inch single. I dont want alot of annoying drone since i drive alot on the highway and i like it quiet inside while cruising but want it loud when i punch it.
