I finally found a machine shop locally to key my crank for me.I know to put three 5mm wide keys in it but how long should each one be?Oh,and what kind of distance from one another? Should each key be centered from where the pin is now?

I went through this... I don't memmer it being 5mm, I thought it was 6mm, check the balancer.
Anyway, the issue is the keyway is stepped (in case you didn't see it) it'll have to be 2 pieces or 1 custom milled piece. The back of the keyway is at a different diameter than the front keyway.
Look closely at the portion of the keyway closest to the first jouranl, see the step?
I took them (machinist) a 12" long piece and let them cut it to lenght and install them so they owned the fit. IT might take 3" max

So I only need 2 key ways cut,not 3?

Unless somebody has come up with another better way, I only memmer 2 possible locations. Crank and Cam.
IF you get a SoCal Cam it comes keyed, the crank we gotta do unless you buy a stroker kit.
Its 1 crank key, 2 ways to do it becuase the crank snout diameter changes from front to back. Cut one keyway, it'll be deeper in the back becasue the crank snout diameter is larger, so you'll need to machine the key so it protrudes the same at both diameters. Or, cut the keyways the same depth at each diameter and use 2 keys.
IMO- it can go either way, you can find the key at granger, it's metric. Take the balancer, gear and crank to the machinist he'll tell you what to do.:) BTW- it has to be dead nuts... it'll take longer to set up than it will to machine unless he has the crank jig.
Corretcion on earlier statement- check the diameter of the snout behind the tit that sticks out of the stock crank, its larger than it is at the end of the crank snout.

I already have an after market cam with key way in it.I just did not know if the crank should be separate keys due the front seal? And how long each should be?

Oh! good question... I forgot. IIRC the back key was about 1" and the front was a little longer.
I know that doesn't do you much good. Sorry, it was a year ago when i did this. Search Johnboy on this site, he has done this and is a machinist by trade IIRC.

Let us know what you find out. I'm getting ready to build a motor and this is one of my major concerns.

Check the keyway 5, 5.5, or 6mm in the balancer and buy 6" of the key stock Granger). The machinist will do the rest for you.
He'll need to be a good one if he doesn't have the crank jig, if he does about anybody can set it up.
Good luck gents.
