My good buddy bought me a gift for helping him recently. I think our bruised ribs from belly flopping on top of the motor when we did the turbo work might have inspired him. :D

Thanks Tom!!

That looks like it would be ok in some situations but the Turbo is arms deep in monkey grip ET fingers wrenching !

I checked it out for reaching behind the turbo. (probably the most painful place to get to) This thing is going to be sweeeeet!

What a nice gift!

When I was messing around with the electric fan alot I found that if I poped the front grill off it left me with a great place for kneeling on and made woking on the engine easier... But that rig looks a heck of a lot easier to use :)

Have fun with it!

You're welcome. :D Thanks for the "tour" around my Alli and turbo :thumb:

If I wasn't such a space cadet, it would have been there before I was, it was part of "the plan." Oh well....

Giving credit - Kevin Barr had one of these at the last dyno day I went to when he swapped turbos in the parking lot, in the rain, in between dyno runs...gave me the idea...

It is adjustable for height and will cover a 6" lift easily...;)

Oh, we had the grill off - but the hood latch and top of the radiator are still quite prominent when you are trying to stuff your hands down under the cowling....:banghead:

Figure on approximately 2 bits x 1000 shipped

I used Northern Tool - not the cheapest price I found; but a good price from an outfit I'd heard of/used before, if you know what I mean.

minisub,

Thanks. I have their master catalog...must have missed it or not come to that page yet.

I have been getting Northern catalogs forever and have never seen that. I searched their site with their own search tool and didn't find it (just the "jr" version). However, a google search turned up the page on their site with it...go figure.

Like I said earlier, I never saw one of these until I saw Kevin Barr (user name mech and a bunch of numbers) use one at the TI dyno event last month. If you cannot find it let me know and I'll go find the Northern part number for you....

Just when I thought I had seen it all, what a great idea!

I usually pop the wheels off the truck then lower it all the way down again. Saves ~6" or more. Don't think I will have to do that any more. Next to the lift, this is my next favorite thing in the shop. Tranny jack isn't far behind though. :)

somebody really had their head together when they came up with that design. I could see that being used a lot! You should build a shelf or basket right on it to hold parts or tools. Nothing huge and maybe magnatized.

It already has a pouch on it for tool/parts. Just didn't make the pictures.

Hmmm, motorized?

How 'bout a cup holder. I feel that would be a necessary upgrade

I was wanting to get one of those and two spare steel rims. I'd install the steel rims and set the truck down on those to lower the front even further. I don't like deflating tires and having the sidewalls pinched by the wheel edges. Topside creepers are worth every penny in my opinion.
