buzzing sound???

im not sure if this is in the right place but in my truck i have this buzzing sound almost like a cicada, or someone using a hammer drill to drill a brick wall while your standing down at the other end hearing it through the wall. i thought it was something rubbing with my steering shaft (this could still be) seeing as how it seemed to only do it around a certian speed. now i notice that it does it occassionally no matter the speed, could it be my speedo cable? i am pretty sure that the sound is coming from the dash directly in front of me about where my speedo is but lower i would think kinda hard to pinpoint a sound like this.

No Spedo cable. All electronic! What year? Check your steering fluid.

it is the 04.5, i have been meaning to check the fluid level but havent had time. because it makes on occassion the whining noise you hear when you turn power steering hard over either way and hold it while applying throttle. but this does it with minimal ammounts and no matter where i am in the turn no matter what the wheel position. i am hoping it is just low for that problem.

The brake boaster is hydraulic assist also .
