Ok i want to put somethng on the truck that is larger than stock, arent the LLY pipes hot and cold side 2.5 inches?

Either way id like to try and find some that are 3 inches eiter stock parts from a different year or aftermarket what are yalls sugesstions. I want them to help with boost and spool up along with cooler EGT's.

IIRC- BANKS makes a pair of 3" boost tubes.

When you get back to Tucson make buddies with the local muffler guy, he could do both sides in a day if he was fairly good and gives a sh*t.:)

Check the inlet/oulet of the stock intercooler as well. Aren't they 2.5"? Meaning upgrading will offer minimal/no gain if the IC is 2.5". If you have a welder you could do it yourself, its easy if you have mandrel bends. I did it and I'm/was a freakin' Carpenter.

Yeah the intercooler is i think 2.5 inch inlet an outlet so i figure the piping will be the same but i read somewhere that the LBZ i think had an intercooler and piping that was 3 inch, correct me if i am wrong but there was one year that had that ill have to look it up

yes,but they also reduce down to 2.5" for the connections.
I ordered a driverside hotpipe from Bank, very well priced.

I bought a universal 3 inch intercooler kit off of ebay. I had to have a bead welded around the end of the pipes to keep the boots on because they kept blowing off, i had to buy the right size reducers for the turbo and intake manifold.. Other than that i havent had any problems with them.

JDlover what was the name of this kit and overall what did it cost you and what all did it come with. Did this kit come with a larger and Suitable intercooler for a diesel to hold enough airflow(basically is it larger than stock and reliable) and did it have the 3 inch inlet and outlet

Turk i have been looking on Banks power and i cant seem to find the pipes sold individually where should i be looking on the site.

Id give jbarker a call at banks, since he's on the forums a lot.
A bigger intercooler will cost you around 1k regardless.

James, When you cme over to have Mike do your trans Banls is 30-40 minutes North. If i had to do it again and was staying air to air... I would use the Spearco its purdy. Maybe a vendor here sels them?

MAXLLY Cool sounds good you said a vendor here might sell them who might that be or you just figured there are so many that someone might carry them.

Turk i will have to look into the pipes from banks, i appreciate your info. Also are the Banks IC pipes 3 inch all the way or do they shrink down? i would get them and leave them off till i got the IC if they are 3 inch all the way they should be thoug right since the Banks IC has the 3 inch inlet and outlets.

I figure i would get the pipes for now but the intercooler i would wait on for a while but would be my next BIG money purchase seeing as they are expensive. I just didnt wanna spend the money on a banks IC even though they are nice they are just ALOT of money compared to some of the others.

Thanks for everyones replies.

Hw are you getting them to fit up to the stock IC with the smaller inlet and outlet diameters or are the diameters on the IC 3 inches

I will let you know when I get it back.

Cool id be interested to see if it made a difference, im not sure it would just because it would have to restrict back to 2.5 to go in and out of the IC.

The only place i would see a difference if at all would be he hot side like what you got but still not sure.

I just put LB7 boost tubes on my buddies LLY. The drivers side fits without any modifications, but the passenger side had to be cut shorter on the intercooler end of the boost tube and we twisted it at the upper 90 degree bend connecting it to the intake. We twisted it slowly and carefully not to "crinkle" the bend. He has noticed between 100 and 150 (he says 200 but I think he's :lying:) degree cooler egt temps with his stock intercooler. I am having some fabbed up as we speak. The drivers side will be longer to eliminate the long radious 2.5'' silicone boot from the turbo and the drivers side are just being mandrel bent.

It's $178 shipped for both sides for 3" mandrel bent pieces from Banks that don't neck down at all.

The first one was free using the LB7 tubes. The LB7 boost tubes only neck down at the intake and out of the turbo. The 3'' intake I am building will take care of that end but until a turbo upgrade were are stuck with the 2.5'' turbo outlet end. $60 dollars for 6' of 3'' aluminium tubing, $11 dollars a piece for the 2.5''-3'' couplings and new found friend with a Baileigh RDB-350 Tube Bender put the cost so far at about $95. We are not going in business to do this but because at $178, buy the time they cross the border they are about $200.

the lly intercooler is 3" in and out and not 2-1/2"

Thats correct. The necking down we are referring to is at the top (intake and turbo compressor outlet).
