hey when i bought my truck i was checking it out and when i loked under the hood to see if there was anything out of the norm. for what i knew anyway. well as i was looking and i seen on the back of the firewall where the turbo is on both sides but not directly behind the matting was tore up where you could see the yellow. i didnt think much of it and went on my way just figured something got loose and tore it up but got fixed as i was buying from a dealer. wrong decision not to ask. well as i was installing my cat delete pipe i was trying to get it off the down pipe clamp and when i moved it side to side to try and pry it loose the whole dang down pipe and all went from side to side.-:t almost made me sick to see it was that way. obviously it did it before because now i knew for a fact that the damage was from the pipe coming off. well i pulled the heat shield off the top of the turbo and moved it out of the way and sure as shit the clamp was loose from the back of the turbo. so i tightened it and buttoned everything up. is this normal for these things to loosen on there own? or did the dealer just not care.

I wouldn't think it is normal for them to come loose, IIRC they are secured with a spring loaded type clamp. Meaning there is always tension/pressure on the nut so it will not back off.
I would venture a guess that someone may have replaced the turbo at one time. I know when I removed my turbo out of my lb7 the black matting got tore up pretty good. I say tighten her down and call it a day.

yeah thats what i did didnt want to mess with it too much. i dont think that the trubo has been changed, but i am not 100% sure on that. i put on the cat delete pipe and the dang turbo is loud! but that is most likley due to no cat. but everything looks stock.

nah i only wish i had a larger turbo but i doubt it. it is loud but i have heard some of them on youtube and WOW:eek2: those things scream! but either way i dont think i have one cause the seat-o-the-pants meter doubts it just not quick enough for a turbo mod.

Yes, they are variable vane, I have a LBZ model on my LLY right now, what kind of programming do you have, that can make a big difference on how it responds.

OH GOD programming? i WISH ):h i am waiting to get EFI live but i dont know how long i can:lol: but a little more serious i dont think there is any on the motor for the fact of i dont think it is quick enough to have anything done. on a side note though i did buy the truck used from a dealer and i dont know if the previous owner did anything with it or not, there is under hard acceleration from a light/stand still a bit of smoke behind the truck not a bunch just a smidge but you can definatly see it but its no where near it should be if someone tuned it in any way i think. also if there does happen to be any programming done to it is that gonna effect me when i get Efi live to be able to put what i want in? does that lock the computer where i cant do anything?

When a EFI tune is installed, you have an option if you want to lock it or not. Chances of a person doing that is slim, I think, unless it is a ecm that was bought from someone else. JMO

If it was just programmed with a handheld like the Predator or Hypertech it wont be locked. If you know somebody with EFI, get them to read your tune and then compare it to a known stock tune. Then you will know for sure. You can flash tune right over this including a stock tune if wanted with EFI.
