what do yall think about gettin that driver side manifold that doesnt have the notch in it? does it make a difference in the seat-of-the-pance-meter and in milage and turbo spool up, im tryin to figure out if i want to get one if it is worth the money and labor of installing it. i know it will def. be a 12-pack job:beerchug:. has anyone ever installed one that can give me some tips and advice as to weather it is worth it.

its a good peace of mind mod, mine seemed a little peppy for a day or two afterward, but it was probably all in my head.

thats what i am thinkin. did you notice even slightly quicker spool? you install yours yourself or have someone do it? i dont care about the labor just looking for some tips. what did yours cost if you dont mind my askin. by the way nice rig the wheels definatly make it stand out they look good.

i put mine on when i did the tranny and turbo so its hard to say if made a noticeable difference. i would say it has to make a difference in drive pressure and lower the egts a little.

If you decide to change the manifold, you may want to look into some better flowing up-pipes to help it out. You can get info from Rick about the up-pipes.

another thing is you probably tap it for a pyro probe before the install

All of the aftermarket ones I've seen come pre-tapped. :thumb:

Soak the up pipe bolts in penetrating oil. Remove the DS fender well liner. Then pull the upper steering shaft bolt and pivot the steering shaft out of the way. Unbolt the manifold. Reassemble.:)

aint too bad then huh? about the pyro tap, thats where your suppossed to put it? i thought it was on the output side of the turbo. which is best cause this is a definate mod that i want to do and need to do.

We have been putting ours in the PS manifold simply because it's easier to get too. I have had a couple of trucks with the probe "hid" on the bottom inside of the DS manifold.;)

and the readings are just as accurate? i figured putting it on the output side of the turbo on the top of the downpipe would be most accurate cause thats where all cylinders and all heat combines.:confuzeld:im not too sure

Most people agree to put them before the turbo. The manifold is the easiest place to achieve this.

ok now thats figured out how do you keep from shavings going into the exhaust side turbine?

You won't believe me, but drill it and tap it with the engine idleing. Start with a cold engine... get everything ready. Start the truck and drill the hole with the truck idleing. It won't be too hot and the exhaust will blow the pieces out the hole as you break through.
Wear safety glasses. :cool::D

James, if you are putting an aftermarket drivers side manifold on, it'll most likely come pre-drilled and tapped for a probe. I wouldn't drill one if you were planning on doing that.

sounds good then thats where it will be.
on edit: anyone know where i can purchase this manifold and the up pipes? i need a good deal.
