Hi, I'm Chris. :hello:
Kinda new to diesels. Can I fit 285's on my truck? What is a good tuner for more black smoke? Should I straight pipe it or use a muffler? I have a question about gauges. What hp level is safe for the stock transmission?

hio chris... I can help you with a lot of your questions.... what are you trying to do with the truck?

as for gauges, I am running a special on the pyro/boost/tranny combo which are your most important.... as for straight pipe or muffler it all depends on you... I like the sound with a good muffler and it keep in cab sound levels down... but straight pipe is badass at WOT... do you know what brand you are looking for? and if you arent going to be pushing over 500hp I wouldnt waste the money on a 5"... 4" would be fine for you so you can save a few bucks.... the best programmer is EFI live if you know what you are doing... if you dont you'll mess the truck up royally... 2nd best programmer is PPE... its very user friendly and makes great power... you can run a 100hp tune if you want to be completely safe on your tranny... you can periodically push it harder, but not constantly... as for your tires, you need to get a leveling kit or crank your t-bars to fit the 285's but yes they will work

i havent decided for sure yet. its about a 3 1/2 hr drive from where i live. id like to go though. Are you headin out there for the weekend?

Yep. I'll be there Friday afternoon. 7 hour drive for me.
I'll be on the asphalt track Saturday morning. No pulling for me though, I just want to watch the Big dogs play.
