I have windows vista and I haven't had any problems, yet. It seems to work fine. A local friend of mine has helped me with EFI and says everything works well with vista. I hope you don't have any troubles. Good luck.

NO need to build a computer.. Just get something that you like and them wipe the drive and install XP on it...

Does iMAC laptop works with EFI live? I have a HP laptop but the hard drive crashed so I have to reprogram the entire XP but the cd I got was corrupt and now I believe my motherboard crapped. My g/f wants to get a iMac laptop and I'm not sure if it will work with EFI live.

Here it is;

You need to disable UAC to do this go to control panel.
1. search for administrative tools
2. Click system configuration
3.Go to the tools bar
4. Scroll down to disable User account control (UAC), select and click launch
5. Restart computer
6. download EFI LIVE

You also need to make sure you are running as Administrator to have permissions to install software.

We have a number of users that use Mac's. To get EFILive running (and other windows based apps) you'll need to run a windows emulator such as parrallels.

Thanks Rick. I can't beleive he's now 3 1/2 weeks old - where did that time go? He's going well - pretty much doing everything he should be doing - sleeping is pretty good, Ross is a night owl so he usually does the midnight feed which leaves me to do the 3 or 4 am feed, so everyone is getting plenty of sleep. Only problem is it's winter and it's cold getting up at night! (By winter I mean it's probably still 40-45 degrees - but it's cold for us!)

Cheers
Cindy

Be very careful if you change it to where you are the Admin, I read alot of the microsoft empolyees forums and comments and they said it screwed up some things you don't find out till its to late. The only issue I had/have is it doesn't load 2 kernel program commands on startup, I changed it to not open on startup and all I have to do is click on the message in the right lower corner and click to allow them to run-no issues at all so far. I did buy an Acer Netbook, it comes with XP/svpk3, no disc drive but 160gig hard drive and 1 gig ram. It is a small screen but I love it. I just load everything from a zip drive to it and bam-off we go and it only weighs like 2lbs. It works just as good as our big laptop during tuning if not better and the battery life is twice that of the big laptop. Just my .02.

Make sure you are an Admin if not you need to right click on EFI every time and "open as Admin".

Also If you buy a dell, go thru the small business side and you can order PCs with XP on them.
