I guess I spoke to soon about 149thou miles and 0 problems , anyone have had a problem with the air to air cooler either breaking a bellows or the air cooler itself? I was pulling a serious hill and it has got louder and louder with a kind of cross between a vacuum cleaner and a turbo whine ,I have checked all the hoses and the lbz has some plastic fittings as well , checked the silencer on top ,symptoms are EGT gets to 1400+ under any load but it's still pulling 20+ Lbs of boost ,one problem is I can't get it to do it if not under a load.....Any Ideas ????

I know there have been problems of the aluminum IC tube getting a hole rubbed in it but I hadn't heard of one on the LBZ... Might want to run your hand along it and make sure. The boots are all good? Do you have a blocker plate and is that flange sealed up good?

Best way to locate a boost leak is to build a tool that allows you to pressurize the intake. Start with a rubber drain adapter, sold at hardware stores to mate up different size drain pipe, 4"x 2" is a common size, but I am not sure on the lbz what size you will need. On the small end, reduce the size down to a pipe fitting and install a tee with a gauge on one side and an air quick connect on the other. Attach a regulated air supply to the inlet fitting and start increasing air pressure while listening for air leaks. I wouldn't exceed 30 psi to be safe.

Dave , no blocker ,never has had one , I felt the hoses all seems good , can't hear any noise at all at idle or when you rev it.
I can't do too much in the build a tool to pressurize it right now, Hope it either gets worse or stays the same 1599 miles to go !!

good luck on this. Isn't there a GM parts truck doing the tour with you? Maybe they could do some diagnostic on your truck for you?

Just found it !!!! big crack in the down pipe right where it curves down into the CAT , maybe a good welder can patch it and then I will either eliminate it or...... sure didn't sound like exhaust leak.:)

There's a Jiffy Lube down by Walmart. The guy that manages it builds street rods on the side. I'll bet he has a welder.;)

Yeah, no kidding... Thats a heck of a list! :thumb:
So the LBZ's could have an IC tube rub-through problem, too? I still have to check my LB7. Darn P/S hose bracket!
Good Luck Fred...hope you get it fixed! Might want to grab something to act as a rub-plate in that spot on the tube, too. Maybe get the welder to put a thicker patch over the area?
