Hi
I’m looking at getting an aftermarket exhaust for my 2002 Duramax HD 2500 4x2 SB. I was towing a 6000lbs TT and have since moved up to a 11000lbs TH. As you might imagine, I noticed the EGT’s going up over 1300 (pre-turbo). I’m new to this stuff and have talked with a few to try and understand what I might want to go with. From what I understand, I can spend a lot of money and still have an EGT problem.
So my question is what should I expect on EGT’s with a CAT back or a Turbo Back? Also, is the down pipe on a turbo back system 4” or will it still be only 3 or 3.5?
I guess I have to keep the CAT due to 2010 laws; I was told if I’m not over 600hp I wouldn't see a difference anyway, true?
I’m not a fast driver and I don’t care about running the ¼ in 11 seconds. I do however want to avoid pulling over every time I try to climb Big Bear (HW 38) at 30 mph. Quick fix, camp somewhere else;)
Should I also do the air-intake? I figure I only need to drop around 200 to 300 degrees.
Your thoughts and experience needed.
