ecm question

i have had a couple people tell me the ecm from an 02 and newer would solve a couple glithches (cruise is real touchy, idles eratically when theres a programmer installed) should i switch to an 02 and later ecm before i start tuning with efilive?

With EFI, you can load a 02 tune into it. No need to buy a new ECM.

Most 2001 users upgrade their OS to a 2002 OS and start their tuning journey to eliminate these type of problems.

I have an 01 TCM and ECM, just wondering what year trucks these will fit. I'm just hoping I can use these in my 04 LB7 :)

I think the TCM will interchange up to 05. I have put an 04.5 TCM into an 03. I'm pretty sure you must load an LB7 TCM tune though, or you will get some codes.

If you would like a 2002 OS for your ecm I can send you one with a stock tune loaded for a 2002 and then you can send your 2001 ECM back as a core,

Thanks Rick I appreciate your response. I'd been thinking the 01 tcm would work in my 04 but would not have the OD lock out unless the truck it was removed from had it.

The ECM part number is different for a 2001 and that is the only year model it was used. There are some hardware differences internal to the ECM. The 2002 - 2004 LB7 ECM's are all the same just the code installed is different. Now the TCM is the same from 2001 - 2005 with just different code installed.

The idle issue and cruise control issue are a function of the tune being installed not the hardware. Fix the tune and your issues will be gone.
