Hi there new to the diesel world a year ago
bought my 06,best rig Ive ever owned but I have read sevral post that
the lbz pistons are the weak link even witha stock tune this is a conscern as I like to add50- 80 pony's here and there, besides a costly build Im guessing theres not much I can do???

THe LBZ pistons are very unlikely to fail with that small of a tune

I dynoed 741hp on a stock LBZ longblock. The pistons, rods, head gaskets, etc looked great at tear down (there is a thread on here with pictures). I never left the big tunes in my truck during normal driving and I did many upgrades to help control EGTs. At lower power levels an LBZ should live a long time. Proper tuning is the key.

Anything under 400rwhp IMO is fine and nothing to worry about. When you start messing with efi and racing, it would come up as a concern.

You have to worry about your tranny long before pistons

It wouldn't be 330WHP the allison soaks up alot of power most say 25% loss

For reference, I saw a LBZ dyno 2 weeks ago with the Predator set at 120HP. All the truck had was exhaust, intake and the Pred. The best the truck did was 388HP. I was really surprised. I figured it would be closer to the 400 mark if not a little over it.

rear wheel hp???

Yes that was at the rear wheels. I talked to Nick the next day at a truck pull and he said they dyno stock between 300 and 310. Kinda makes me sad thinking that my LLY theoretically only puts out about 260ish:bawl::bawl:
