I agree, but if I were to have to choose, I'd go S&B.
Brian, isn't that what you have?

The price of them is better too unless you are in Canada I was going to get one but they wanted over $900.00 Can for on and that is a rip off no matter where you are from.
I got one off a forum for 125.00 used.

S&B LBZ intake is $262.63 (US) shipped to anywhere in the US and from us comes with our logo on it. I am still running the filter and box from an LBZ kit and have done over 820hp. I would recommend them hands down over AEM.
On a stock LBZ turbo inlet, intake and filter we have done 590hp on a stock turbo, fuel only LLY.

so those of you that have suggested the S&B... what makes them better then the AEM.
have you ran the AEM and not liked the design or filtration?

I have not run either and as I said, I'd stay with the OEM if I were the OP. But if I had to choose which one to buy, I'd get the S&B because of the air filter box design. I believe the S&B will do a much better job at pulling in outside cool air whereas the AEM looks like it would be pulling in more hot engine compartment air. JMO.

i hear ya dave. however i don't believe that under hood temps make that much of a difference. i've ran both and didn't notice any better throttle response or HP loss one over the other.
imo as far as fit and filtration they are 2 of the best.
BUT if you want a dry filter AEM is the way to go. Oiled filter... S&B and Airaid are my 2 top choices.
here is my open AEM, i see just about the same IATs with either. also as far as durability the AEM is the strongest hands down.

I would just like to find a dry filter that is strong like the AEM, for my Banks intake.

ha good luck. that banks gynormous opening poses a bit of a problem. i would imagine you could do a plumbers coupling but that would look like poop. then again it's inside the box.

I think it depends on truck use. When towing heavy in Arizona, I know I'm going to want to suck 110° "cool" air vs. the 160+° engine compartment air.
What about the S&B with a dry disposable filter?

IMO the only time the S&B box is going to have cooler IAT's is when you are stopped, once moving the air is pushed through the front of the truck to the filter so you really aren't getting any hot air. I've watched logs with different setups and seen that its all the same once the vehicle is moving. Even with my twin setup with hot pipes running through the engine bay the filter is completely open in the front corner of the engine and the temps are very close if not the same to the ambient temperature.

Nothing bad to say about AEM but I think the install looks better with the S&B.

thanks a lot for all your guys input had a buddy of mine put a AEM on his dodge as my guinea pig :D he said overall he is not very happy with it not a big difference on response or anything and his filter indicator is always sucked out a little after running even with a brand new filter

Kyle I have logged trucks with AEM and S&B intakes, and also mine with my an S&B intake with my home-made under the bumper scoop and with it sealed up from any underhood air. On a truck with an AEM I have seen 109* IATs on a 58* night while idling briefly at a stop sign - once the truck was moving they dropped to 78*. With my setup on the same night it ran at 68* while idling for 10 minutes, when I started moving it dropped to 58*. Out of the box the S&B stays within 20* of ambient at idle and drops to very near or at ambient while moving. Haven't had any problems with S&B durability and don't expect to. I haven't gotten to try out any of their dry filter kits yet, but it's pretty easy and much cheaper to clean and re-oil mine every now and then.
Royce, don't expect too much from an intake on your truck - the factory intake flows very well and as I pointed out we have made 590hp fuel only on a stock 06 intake and turbo inlet retrofitted on a stock turbo LLY.
