Ok....not really. ):h

Well I've about had it with the miserable winter weather here in Michigan so I set about working on the truck......and afterwards decided she needed a wash and wax before photos.

So here she is after installation of some lovely 2 inch drop shackles......helper spring removed......and torsion bars turned down 6 turns. The ride is AMAZING !! I'd say with all honesty that the truck rides similar to a 1500 and will actually go around a corner now. You can also see the new Caltracs bars too.....now if only those turbos would show up. ;)

The last picture has the helper spring installed......sorry for any confusion.....that picture was taken prior to the work I did today.

Thanks guys :Handshake:

I lucked out on the color......it's the only diesel truck my dealer had left and it happened to have the color and ever option I was after. Bet that never happens again.....

It looks pretty sharp polished up......just need to delete the badges on the tailgate and maybe that side sticker and the truck will slip into full sleeper mode. :thumb:

I keep thinking about taking out the overload or helper leaf. Any issues removing it? I assume, remove the ubolts, remove the spring center bolt, pull out the spring and put it back together. Anything I am missing?

I know yours the NBS, but why does everybodys truck seem to lower so much dropping the torison bars? Mine doesn't look low at all!?

The U-bolts were plenty long enough on my truck to simply remove the helper spring and reassemble.......but I also think the lower Caltrac plate is a bit thicker so a handful of washers might be your friend here. You will also need a shorter bolt to hold the stack together.....if memory serves I used a 3/8 bolt and shaved down the head so it would interface with the axle bracket like the crazy round head OEM bolt. Worked like a champ. :thumb:

As for the torsion bar adjustment.......I'm not entirely sure......but it does seem when you turn them out on the NBS the front is quite a bit lower than the earlier models.

Looks good, like Wes said just need some nice rims.

I ride with my torsions all the way down, 2" drop shackles in the rear and some home made traction bars. The front was a little too bouncy after hitting a bump until I installed the QA1s, but now it rides like a dream. With 2" spacers in the rear and wide tires and rims all around I can hold corners with most sports cars - customers normally grab for the "Oh shit" handles going into the first corner until they realize it takes it so well compared to their truck.

I never considered this prior to seeing this truck. Did you use aftermarket keys?

One of my trucks is lowered in the front courtesy of an extra 600 pounds of motor.

The Cal-Tracs, leaf removal and shackles looks like the route I will go with both trucks now.

Anyone want to recommend a shackle and new U-bolt source? Site Vendors?

Oh I have new wheels.....had them since fall.....just didn't want to run nice wheels through a Michigan winter.

Anyone have a good source for TPS stuff ?

Hope I'm not too late here but, I had a set of falken 275's on my last truck. Hated 'em. One of the four would not hold a balance, ended up on the rear and my miliage dropped a mile or two, maybe because of the balance.
