Hey everyone,

Something to check once in a while are your transmission lines. I am replacing mine due to the fact that the original lines have been cut through because of the retainers. The guilty culprit retainers are the ones located along the oil pan on the pass. side above the axle. Basically, it is a metal on metal issue that GM seemed over look? I don't have any pictures, but it is something to look at.

I noticed this after pulling a 84' CUCV over Donner Summit. My tailgate had fluid spots across the back and the CUCV and trailer were also covered. A nice pool of ATF formed while unloading the CUCV and I just followed the bread crumbs.

What I have been told is the issue was solved a few years later.

With the amount invested in our vehicles and transmission something as a simple retainer can ruin great things.

I will try and get some pictures on this.
Happy Easter!

Nothing happened to the tranny. I caught it in time. I don't know when the retainer made it through the line but could not have been very long. The issue though is at high pressure, the smallest of holes can empty the system quickly.

Just had mine replaced on the 06. The dealership told me that it was a defect in the crimp on the hoses and that Cheverolet knew there was a problem with it because they had upgraded hoses. The funny thing about it was that Cheverolet knew there was a problem and sent out bulletins to the dealerships but they wouldn't cover them under the warranty. Go figure.
