There will be more as the days roll by, I am running out of time as we speak. Thanks alot to all the guys who have helped me so far, Iowa LLY, Azzkikrcuda, and Tim over at SJD.

I must note, the traction bars are not my idea and not my design, I simply took the idea from Dieselplace member HeavyHD. I will be making similar brackets for the rear mounts, so I will post pics in a few days when I get them fabricated up.

Any ideas or comments would be appreciated, always like to hear how everyone else does it.

we use rubber bushings in the front mounts they give a little, but not alot. when theyre mounted solid the rod ends wear just a little and get noisy.

Where exactly do you use bushings at? Like where the pin will mount the rods to the framework?

IOWA LLY

He probably means they don't use heim joints at all. He probably uses a
"semi" style track bar end.

Well after fixing my 2 left hand traction bar mounts ):h I finally got everything on my truck and ready to pull.

Sorry I pretty much left this thread to die as I have been busy for the past 2 weeks in 95 degree heat and 80+ humidity levels. Anyways, I have pulled 4 times in the past few days and have another pull coming up tomm. night.

Only real problem is, I have not broke anything yet so things have been pretty slow over here at the Lanoha residence. I also want to thank Alan for helping me every night this past few weeks sweating his butt off and Addison for the hitch design and numerous phone calls at midnight.

Here are some pictures.

Josh2002cc
07-24-2008, 12:05 AM
Been doing really well actually. Been to 3 pulls since saturday and the first time out got 3rd. Lost to a built up dodge cummins with a 66mm charger by 10ft and a built dmax truck by 1ft. Then on sunday went to a pull and got first(only because I was the only diesel truck) and beat out a case IH 1066 tractor in the open class then pulled tonight and got 2nd place in both the modified 7800lb diesel class and 2nd in the open diesel class. So far 6 hooks and no problems:thumb: Alan(Azzkickrcuda) has been doing the driving and is catching on really quick...his wife is very understanding about the long nights in the shop and out at the pulls):h

looks good josh.

talking to some rock crawler and seeing them run the tread backward for maxium traction. "scooping" will grab/hold more dirt then "plowing" through the dirt.

just an obsevation. nice job on the placements:Handshake:

I like that hitch, but i dont believe it will work in some places where they require a "reese style hitch" like here at the pc fair,

Rob you are correct it will not work. But after recent arguments there has been a "new and un-improved" drawbar that works just like a "reese style hitch" made up. I will use that if need be.

I will not be pulling at the Platte County Fair tonight.

I wish more guys thought like you. I like to hit the sauce, but only after the pulls. Too many things that could go wrong on the track or in the pits to take that chance. We've had a few close calls due to :beerchug:.

Edit: forgot to mention you have a nice setup there. congrats on the pulls.

How is the dedicated puller coming?

Engine and trans are on the stand and I am in the process of taking the engine apart now.

I am taking my time on this in no real big hurry. The truck is now about 30 miles away sittin in a field with the mice for winter storage.

Up-pipes and a custom T4 pedistal have arrived thanks to Rick. Very nice quality and I am very impressed with the welds. Rick did a very nice job on them, thanks Rick :thumb:

Dual cp3 bracket will be here in about a week or so, the cp3 controller is coming along as well thanks to a fellow member here.

I am about to start working on the wiring harness, cleaning it up some and removing all the wires for the a/c stuff, coolant overflow and what not. I got some really trick wiring harness material that is used on aerospace projects. Stuff is suppose to be fireproof or whatever. It is really cool actually, the loom itself acts similar to a chinese fingertrap. Push it together and it expands, then pull it tight and it contracts griping on the wire. I am also converting alot of the engine acc wires over to bobcat connectors as I can get the actual body and pins really cheap from work. I am going for a very easy clean setup that way everything can be unplugged if the engine ever needs to come back out.

Slowly but surely this project will push ahead. I have a bobcat s300 kubota diesel engine Alan and I are rebuilding right now and I guess a 1965 ford mustang engine that is coming over for a rebuild sometime next week. So time.....time...time...

I was originally thinking of building a 2.6 truck and was going to try and find the lightest class possible seeings when I tripped the scales in Oskaloosa it only weighed 7300lbs while hanging 1000 lbs out front but after talking with AJ I think I am going with a 2.8 that way I can pull with you in both classes :thumb:
