I was driving the truck with our 20ft box trailer. It towed great down but on the way back the egts went out of control. I couldn't keep it below 1300 it peaked out at 1900 driving 55. Even turning off O/D it still wouldn't pull 1400. After that I just pulled and let cool down. I don't what it is. No codes.

Was it smoking more than usual? Might be a boost leak. Could be a defective egt sensor too.

What level on the ppe? how heavy was the trailer? what were the road conditions? (grades) I think 1300° in unrealistic when towing heavy, but 1900° is too hot imo. I personally aim for under 1500°.

The trailer at most weighed 6000lbs. It was a cool 47 degrees and I'm not sure on the grade was but I've pulled up steeper hills with more weight and barely got 1400.
Well turned it back to stock and drove it around without the trailer. Only got 0401, 0404, & 1218. From a dead stop to 80 mph driving like a race car it pulled 25lbs of boost and still hit 1600 by 4th gear. I'm sure the gauge is halfway right cause smelled really hot yesterday when I got out to check it. So I'm still lost at this point. Any input would be great.

EGR faults you would expect with your EGR setup.
What is causing the P1218 Inject Pump Calibration Circ fault?

I looked in my OEM Service manual and that code isn't listed in any of the 5 books.

I'm going to check the turbo for any play. Could it be turbo vane actuator? It doesn't smoke at all on the drive.

Took it for another drive today and got a different code. 0299 turbo under boost code. Now is that the turbo going out or vanes sticking?
