The wife and I are buying some land outside of Navasota Texas and there is going to be room enough for a workshop for me :)
This is what I am thinking of getting.

Looks good to me. I'd love to have a nice size shop, but land where we live is ridiculous. I'm lucky to have the 24'X36' garage I have now. Most garages around here couldn't fit my dually. Maybe I should move... :D

We are actually looking at a parcel in North San Antonio (Bexar County) or Show-Low (for retirement). I like Texas...tough decision.

Will the 13' overhang be enough to stash the TT??

The 13' height is on the outside, in the middle should be 13'6.. I am going to double check but I am thinking I am going to have to drop the slab about 6 inches under the shed to give it more room....
I have been playing with the inside layout and I am thinking that I will move the main 12' wide door over to the right as far as I can... That will be 6' from the right side of the building... Then I can build in some 11' wide enclosed work areas for the machine tools and an area for a clean work room so I can build telescope mirrors again.
I also decided to move the building far enough off the fence line so I can later add another shed roof to the right side... Then I can move the RV to that side and enclose the left side for more climate controlled work areas... Just got to have the money first :)

I stuck a map of the place on my wifes website... You can use the controls on the map to zoom out and see where Navasota is..

The picture is centered on a 50 acer tract. We are buying the left side of the section and the new barn will be located just to the south of the big white parking lot.. There is a double wide trailer there now but we will be moving that one off.. There is a stable and then a pond just south of where the new shop will be..

Wow, telescope mirrors. I'm impressed. You must dabble in all sorts of stuff.

I have been really busy since the 8th of last month , when we closed on the property,,, Here is an update on the new shop :)
After a lot of soul searching I changed the design of the shop and made it a 40' x 40' square with 14' tall walls.. The other design just was not going to give me enough space for all the things I wanted to do...
I kept the 10 x 10 back door and had them make the track go up the wall and then bend just below the ceiling so I would not have a pair of rails sticking into the building at the 10' level...
I also kept the 12' wide by 14' tall door and had them offset it so one edge is 7 foot from the corner so I can have some 12 wide work rooms inside and still have room for working on big projects like the RV... Other than that its pretty much the same :)
Poured the concrete slab Friday and the building should start in a couple of weeks!

It's been a hectic three weeks!
The heavy rains started eroding the pad that was built for the garage and I had to spend two days on a tractor hauling dirt up from the creek and packing and grooming the area around the slab so it was stable. Took about 100 yards of clay and topsoil to make the pad where I could mow it after the building was built... The back of the garage is about 5 feet above natural ground level so I had a lot of work there...
The Hurricane messed up a lot of things and the building crew had to go elsewhere... BUT today I received word that they will start Friday morning and the building should be finished in about 2 weeks... Barring another hurricane :)

Now it's starting to look like something :)
The exterior walls are up and the doors are in.. Only thing left to do is add the side shed for the RV and a front door cover...

There is a lot of stuff stored on the floor in this picture. Since it was taken I have finished the inside of the machine room and moved in the new saws... I will take some pictures in a couple of days..
