I am doing the pump rub fix and have a quick question for y'all. Anyways, when I unbolted the t-case there was fluid that came out. Both tranny and tcase are filled with dextron so can't tell where the fluid is coming from. The question is whether there is supposed to be fluid there or do I have a bad seal? Need to know before I put back together.

I had the truck apart and am going out of town tomorrow so I decided to ignore the little amount, around half a quart, of oil that came out. Before I went to pull the case, there wasn't a leak or anything, so I figure it should be fine. It is a good question though. I am basically still askin the question in case I do have a bad seal, but it is back together for now. The main reason I did the fix right before I went out of town was in case the case had a small hole in it, I could order the rear half and have it here for when I get back and wouldn't have to worry too much bout tryin to find a ride to work or anything.

If you are talking about it coming from in between the transmission and transfer case that is normal. The transfer case has a seal at the front, which will keep fluid from the trans and t-case from cross contaminating. The transmission does not have a rear seal and the fluid that is in the rear extension housing drains into the pan, but there is always a little left over that comes out when you separate the 2. As long as you put a new gasket between the trans and t-case when you put it back together you will be fine.:thumb:
