I would never buy a new truck, but on any "new to me truck" the first thing I would do is tune it. I drove to PA to buy the regular cab, his son goes to school there and was showing me the truck while his dad was still on the way, I installed a DSP5 switch and tuned it before I even paid for it. Flat towing a Tacoma home behind it was much nicer with a nice tow tune with a turbo-brake built in.

Agreed, if I have the money to buy a new truck, more likely I have the money to make modifications to it. So my choice is all of the above.
