I installed a set of these a couple of weeks back and did my first small trip the other day and they work pretty good. They take the harshness outta the bumps (you know the ones that make your kidneys bounce). They cost around $340. shipped and took me about 4 hrs to install. Most people would probably do it in a couple of hours but I'm kinda slow(got this broken leg thing).
It replaces your rear shackle on your leaf spring.Just wanted to see if anybody here has done it besides myself.

Steve has "velvet shackles" which were before sulastic shackles. I've heard good things about them, but don't they drop the rear while hitched to your 5er?

They claim not to I cant say I took any measurements to verify but they are really just to control vibration and handling. And I haven't seen any complaints yet.The guy who told me about them has a much larger load then I and he doesn't have any issues.

Mine just arrived today. Gotta find time to put them on.
Jim, I'll take your 4 hours as a challenge. I don't have the greatest tool set, so it may take me every bit as long.

Okay ha ha.Now if I had to put them on again I would be much faster ha ha.The instructions are very vague and miss a few details but if you have looked around a bit at what the other guys have had to do you got all the answers.Let us know how they came out.
I just finished up a little trip with 5er in tow and they held up fine (13k roughly) trip was about 500 miles give or take. They took a good beating and came out great everything still in place.

I really like the ride my truck has now... It does take the harshness out of the ride and Since I ride around unloaded most of the time they are a great addition to my truck....

I am so frustrated! Got mine in about a three weeks ago and everytime I have a three + hour block of time to install them, it starts raining. Today, I actually got the truck off the ground, but didn't get the stands under it in time, and down came the rain!!!
It's beginning to feel like we live in Seattle or something!
But now I have a sorta dumb question. Where are you guys placing the jack stands to hold the back of the truck up?

...Funny how rain "happens" I just rec'd my new tranny cooler and was all set-up to install it, when as hard as it is to believe ...down comes the rain on Arizona. Not just any rain mind you but a 3 hour down pour. I can't complain though we really, really need all the rain we get. Guess I'll have to plan for another day tp scab up my knuckles. I too am interested in how those new shackles work out, lord my kidneys could use a break from the "bounce" we all experience.):h

STPETEBLUE:
When I had to lift the rear of my HD for the air bag/air line install, I had to put my lift stands up on large wooden beam cut-off's and extended them up to the receiver hitch. I also removed the rear tires/wheels. Be sure to choke the front tires as well so the truck doesn't roll forward ! Safety first. Since my truck has a 6" lift, it made getting the rear end up high enough tricky. Pics of your project would be great !

Looks like I'm gonna need taller jack stands. Mine are 3 ton, standard height stands and I had them setting on a concrete block and two 4x4s side by side. One guy said he put them under the frame rail before it made the bend up to the bed. If I have to move them that far forward, I don't think these are heavy enough. Plus, I don't trust that concrete block!
Cant put them under the hitch, because that has to come loose to access the hanger bolts.

I don't trust concrete blocks either. I have had too many blocks crack on me while performing tasks like this. I would highly recc. getting some heavier duty lift stands for sure. With the receiver hitch issue, maybe the only option is to put the stands up just before the front of the leafs, and remove the wheels for added clearance ??
