Just curious about where you guys go with your TH, toys and family? I have had a Toy Hauler only for about 3yrs and use the TH for cool country escapes like Williams/Flag/Grand Canyon areas.Have also gone to a Drag Race in Pomona.
Besides the Drag Races I try and find areas that are generally isolated-guess I like the quite lol.
So what do you guys do go?

Well, origionally, we bought our's to go to biker rallies and use it up on our family farm. Whenever we plan trips, we try to scope out an area to do some nice riding, like in the Texas Hill Country. Now, the wife and I are starting to go to off-road parks with the quads, that's been a nice change of pace.

Next week, I'm going to CO to watch the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Me and 3 of my friends are loading the bikes in the TH and heading 1000 miles one way to CO to do some riding, then watch the hill climbs on Sunday the 20th. :thumb:

Toyhaulers have so many uses, I could never see a reason to not have one.:thumb:

Great question Jim! I have my favorites, but I am always looking for more...

During the summer we try to get out of the heat. In Arizona, that means elevation, so we head up to the mountains. On normal weekends we head up on top the rim north of Payson. We usually go back past woods canyon lake about 10 miles into the forrest, and dry camp/ride quads out there.

On longer weekends we try to go a little further into the White Mountains in Eastern Arizona. I like the Greens Peak/Greer/Sunrise Ski Resort area. Good dry camping and quad riding in the forrests.

We also try to make a trip each year up into Colorado. We usually go to the Durango/Silverton area. Last year we spent 9 days up there. Eureka is an old abandoned mining town that is a great base point to camp and ride quads from. From this location, there are more trails in the San Juan Mountains than you could possibly ride. Great times, and beautiful country.

During the winters we head to Mexico (Rocky Point) a couple times. We stay at a RV Park right on the beach with full hookups. We go to the dunes a couple times to dry camp/ride quads, and usually SoCal a couple times staying in a RV Park.

Geeze, it sounds like we camp a lot, but I always feel like it's been too long since we went last. ):h

Wow guys all this sounds so darn fun, can't wait to take off this weekend! This is my first trip with all the new stuff so with me it will be a little stressful till I get down the road a bit and get use to all the new noises. Some people just go and don't worry damn I wish I had that gene lol.
Once I get to the place I will be relaxed.Gonna bring along a couple of guns to shoot.Have a AR-15 never have fired it and a little colt 22 target pistol-again never fired so this will be fun. Will shoot the 45 and I need to let the wife plink a little.
Went to Sturgis a few years back but didn't have a TH at that time so one year I will have to go back:thumb:.

We go 5-6 time a year to Glamis...first trip is usually the Halloween weekend to start off the season. When the wife and kids are bored with Glamis, we will take a run at Gordon's Well (we alternate between the two between October and April). We have been to Rocky Point...to each their own but after all the trouble I have experienced first hand with Mexico...I would rather camp in a country that doesn't resemble a toilet...much happier camping in the ol' U.S.A. I'll leave it at that (JMO). When it's hot we travel up to Flagstaff to the cinders and do some trail rinding with the quads (with the torn up paddles on of course). Every other year we go to Utah to the Coral Pink Sand Dunes. During the quadcross series we take the TH to the local events as a home base. The TH has been a worthwhile investment in fun for sure, especially with the DMAX pulling it.):h

Damn you your gonna get there first ha ha.I was thinking about leaving my TH at Camp Navajo for a month or two during the Hot summer that way I can just drive the rig to Parks and pick it up and go.I figure it will save me 50bucks in fuel each way.The storage facility only charges about a .75 cents a day so very cheap. And since its a military training base very secure.Anyone ever think of doing this?

Okay, I'll bite... What happened in Mexico? It's been nothing but good experiences for us... We always go to the Playa Bonita RV resort and mostly hang out on the beach there. $22 per night on the beach with full hookups is hard to beat! I bring the Rhino for running around in town to buy fireworks and taco's but that's about it. We golf while we are there also, and I always get the RV hand washed and hand waxed for $1.50 a foot! They use 4 cans of turtle wax every time. You can't beat that for $60!

Basically take route 66 to the outskirts of town to a turn-off and your there. The turn-off is not marked...just a dirt road. Unless you follow someone who has been there before no so easy to find the first time. FYI if you end up on the way to Kingman, AZ. ....you overshot the turn-off. Most locals know where it is, I just drive and look for the cinder mountains, really hard to miss.

1) got the "alto" when entering Mexico, which led to my TH being searched for an hour.
2) 5 minutes later a local cop pulled us over
3) same local cop tried to fleece us for $200 for not stopping at a stop sign that I was at for 3 minutes waiting for traffic to clear.
4) same local cop took my drivers license and told me that I would not get it back unless we followed him to the police station.
4) local cop did not know that I speak/read spanish (HA! HA!), therefore understood what he was trying to do and all he wanted was to make some quick cash.
5) after realizing that I was not born yesterday and that I understand Spanish...suddenly the fine dropped to $50
6) Have a great F*&^ing day officer, and btw have a cold Corona on me at your local cantina bendejo !
7) buddies rhino was broken into in town at fish market
stereo....$300
speakers.....$200
IPOD in locked compartment......$300
Spare tire/custom wheel locked with cable in bed of Superduty $300
Need I say more...cause there was a 41/2 hr wait to get back to the U.S.

Now I know why so many people who live in Mexico are in such a hurry to leave...

1) better life
2) crooked cops who take bribes since they only make $30 per month
3) bacteria ridden food from unsafe water supplies ( i know this first hand I worked in Hermosillo developing a water purification system for a bottling plant)..let's just say a lot of powerbars and care pkgs from home containing "safe" food to eat. I know better than to not drink their water.):h
4) It was interesting to explain to my kids why they burn their garbage in Mexico...on the beach so that it washes away with the tide

......WHAT A GREAT COUNTRY....kinda miss the smell

No problem bro. Sorry you had such a bad experience. I've had nothing of the sort. May I ask how long ago this was?

Glad you feel better now.

Last May, bought some Mexican fireworks...made in China and lit up the beach. We ended up spending $300 bucks on our personal show which lasted about 15 minutes. I can't remember the last time I spent so much in such a short time...wait a minute there was that bachelor party last year...err...ummm anyway...We have decided that going to the beach will be an hour further in San Diego from now on. My wife did not feel safe with the girls in Mexico, mainly because she speaks German and not Spanish. Individuals that speak the language sometimes get a break when the authorities are aught off guard.):h

Old thread but I'll bite:

Flagstaff, Payson, and White Mountains in the summer.

Sand Dunes in the Winter.

My inlaws live in Southern Utah, so in the summer we end up there a few times to ride quads. We don't take the Toy Hauler but their house is nicer anyhow.

I've been to Oregon twice to go quad riding, it was a long way but worth the drive to ride in 65 degree weather when it is 115 back home.

The toy hauler also serves as an instant home addition when family comes to visit. We had 15 extra people in our house a week a go, it was a blast.

I go to Mexico a lot, there are a few good RV parks in Rocky Point. Other then most holiday weekends it's pretty quiet down there. Also go to the dunes & the cinders. Only other place I've been is Sedona. That's a nice plate to camp for the weekend. I'm always looking for new places to camp also. I have a 34' 5th wheel so it's a bit tricky trying to get into some spots.

Mexico is the one place I won't go. There is so much violence down there, all of the local law enforcement agencies have issued travel warnings for Mexico. They are in the middle of a drug war down there with hundreds killed and who knows how many kidnapped recently. For close to the same money, I can have just as much fun and stay somewhere safe and where I have rights.

Update to my post above, I saw a news article that says 5000 people were killed in the past year as part of that drug war. Northern Mexico is definitely not a place I want to be.

We go down to Rocky Point twice a year for fall and spring break with the kids. We've never had a problem and the killings don't seem to be happening alot in Sonora (the state where Rocky point is) but the headlines are making me a little more nervous for the upcoming trip in March...

X2 on that info. I can definately do without the SMELL of Mexico in general. I would rather camp in South Phoenix (I would feel safer AND have legal rights as well). Glad to hear that someone else feels the same way about that place. Bad news, trashy towns and EEWWWW that smell...the smell that surrounds you....just like the song.):h
