For you LMM owners that have done the DPF delete:
I understand you can disable the regen and turn off the codes via EFILive, but what happens when you need to take the truck back to the dealer for service and you return the ECM program to stock? Do you have to replace your DPF in order to return your ECM to stock progamming so you won't get codes?

We normally use an exhaust kit that uses band clamps. This way the exhaust is easy to take on and off. If a truck has to go back into the dealer, the exhaust is replaced and a stock program is put back in. After the dealer is done, sometimes you have to read the ecm again because it has been updated. Not to big of a problem. Plus keeps the warranty in place.

Full flashes with EFI live is alot better than using a PPE tuner IF your concerned about your warranty. The best way IMO is to pull your stock ECM out and replace it with another ecm that has been flashed to your stock ecm files, then tune/reflash/change files with that one. When you have to go back to the dealer just put your stock ecm back in.

Like Tim said just use band clamps on the exhaust. If they want to find it they will and can still tell the exhaust has been off. Roll the dice and see what happens....

The DPF will have to be put back in in order to put your stock files back in and not get codes. Missing DPF would void warranty anyways......

......unless, you have a friend at the dealer like some of my lucky LMM friends do. Then you just take it in with a 100 dollar bill.

No. I bought my "classic" when the NBS was already out. They have 3 strikes against them if you ask me.

1. DPF
2. No rear AC
3. NO REAR AC!

I've got a buddy that has one that was wondering what he'd have to do if we put a tune in his truck and he deleted his DPF.

Plan was to buy the second ECM and tune that, but when he needed to get serviced and swapped back the OEM ECM, we were wondering what would happen if the DPF was gone...

Sounds like you'd have to re-install the DPF to run the OEM ECM.:(

What happens when the dealer reads the ecm program and finds the " numbers " out of sequence or whatever they are now claiming? I am buying an extra ecm and swapping that out anytime a return is in order.

check with your dealer first. We have done quit a few "off-road" lmm's. IT really dont matter if you are switching ECM's on these new trucks IMHO, if the tech has have a brain they can look at the run time on your ECM and more then likley it wont match your mileage. if you use your stock ECM it will record each time it is re flashed. No matter which way you look at it honesty with your dealer goes a long ways from my experience. I have probably re flashed mine over 2 dozen times in the first 5,000 miles and just had it at the dealer and they informed me on how many times it has been re flashed. Does my dealership mind this.... NO they know what I do and they have no problem with me doing this b/c everything I do is sensible on the tuning side of it and when something fails due to the power levels that I have a tendency to push I dont push the dealer to warranty out the issue. I have always done this with them and I trade every 2-3 years. I guess I have built a trust in my dealership which probably explains why they have sent quit a few new LMM off-road trucks to me.

On another note every truck that we have converted to an off-road only setup are seeing nothing but huge gains in performance and mileage while off-roading):h

Will (goodwrenchtech) can probably go into better detail on how they can trace these re flashes more then me!!!!

They can always be traced if they look hard enough. Switching ecm's doesnt hide it all and it will screw up a couple things by not matching up. However it does make it a lil harder to find.......

Just remember, sumtimes you have to pay to play!):h

I could get in to it with you but I don't want to type it all out. Chad nailed it on the head when he said, have a good relationship with your dealer and/or the tech working on your truck. If you were my customer and I asked you what you had done and you said nothing and I find different you will be screwed. I always help when I can. Just don't lie about because you will get caught or at least I will catch you.

Very well put. I have always told customers to make sure and talk to their dealers first, then the tech. I have also told them to tell them why they did it if asked. The main reason for here in MO is for the mileage. There have only been a few that really want the power. I can see how a significant increase in mileage is possibly worth losing a warranty. The price of fuel is going down a bit, but as always it will go back up.
