TowFlow up pipe instructions
We recommend soaking all the bolts and nuts with penetrating oil before starting.
If you ordered your up pipes coated then pay special attention to keeping them clean and unscratched. The coating will harden more as it goes through a few heat cycles. Make sure there is no machining residue left over inside the pipes. We do our best to clean them, but Please double check them for safety.
Up pipes should fit without prying. Some aftermarket pedestals do not have OEM port locations. If you experience trouble lining everything up then contact me.
1. Disconnect both batteries
2. Remove both front inner fender wells
3. Some people prefer to loosen the tranny dipstick too.
6. Disconnect the down pipe to front pipe v-band
7. Disconnect the down pipe from turbo and leave hang
8. Remove factory heat shield from drivers side up pipe
9. Remove single bolt from steering shaft up by the firewall and hinge
shaft upward making note of steering wheel location
10. Remove lower up pipe to exhaust manifold bolts on both up pipes
11. Remove upper up pipe bolts and EGR valve cooler bolts
if equipped and remove the up pipes. Move down pipe around as needed for clearance. You can also loosen the cab mount bolts and move it around a little for extra clearance.
12. Loosen pedestal bolts.
13. Slide new up pipes into place and start the original
bolts into the upper flange reusing the OEM gaskets
if they are in good shape. Make sure to keep the
down pipe in there for this step. Move it around as
needed for clearance. Use anti-seize on the bolts.
Do not tighten yet.
14. Install the bolts in the EGR cooler tube if used. If not
it must be blocked. We recommend at least 3/16" plate for the blocker if you did not order ours. Use anti-seize on the bolts.
15. Bolt the drivers side up pipe to the manifold’s flange
reusing the OEM gasket if its OK. Use the OEM bolts
with anti-seize. Do not tighten yet.
16. Tighten all up pipe bolts.
17. Tighten pedestal bolts
18. Install down pipe and tighten
19. Re-install steering shaft making sure the steering wheel is back to the original location
20. Install egt and / or back pressure equipment as needed. If not used then plug provided ports.
21. Reinstall inter cooler tubes and reconnect batteries. Start engine and test for leaks. Warm up engine and re tighten all bolts.
25. Reinstall wheel wells and all other necessary parts.
